Like a garden room, your oak garden structure belongs to the outbuilding category and will satisfy PD regulations by meeting the following criteria:
Your garden structure doesn’t exceed 50% of your property.
Outbuildings cannot sit forward of the principal elevation.
Outbuildings can be single-storey structures with a maximum eaves height of 2.5m.
Buildings cannot be used for residential accommodation, such as bedrooms or an annexe but can be used to provide a place to work from home.
Height restrictions on different types of roofs will apply to your oak garden structure. It's 4m for a dual-pitch roof, 3m for other roof types and 2.5m when your building is within 2m of the boundary.
The price of designing and building your oak garden structure will depend on the size and complexity of the construction. Costs can be divided into labour, materials, and machinery.
As long as the garden structure is safe and built to high-quality standards, then it certainly adds value to your property as an additional space in your garden.
